Each year we have been walking with a small group of adolescent mothers in closer knit relationship.
In the smaller circle; counselling happens, mentorship, bonds are created, leaders emerge and above all smiles are rediscovered.
Yesterday we had our second meetup for this year cohort and the ages are extremely young; Last year’s cohort had some maturer faces, but this year the age of young girls getting pregnant is even younger and I find it a bit worrying.
So when most are joining the program, they are normally shy, reserved, and you have to coax them to talk.
But by week 3, they are easily talking and sharing and generally hopeful.
Yesterday our session was graced by a team from Marie Stopes and the discussions were quite engaging.
We look forward to deeper engagements around key topics and to renewed hope and focus for the adolescent mothers.
