On Saturday, 7th June 2025, over 300 community members, local businesses, partners, and stakeholders gathered at Nairobi Chapel Ongata Rongai for the Birth and Beyond Annual Charity Run — a vibrant, purpose-driven event held under the theme “Run for Skills.”

This year’s edition spotlighted an urgent call: equipping teenage mothers with vocational skills that offer dignity, opportunity, and economic freedom.

🎯 Our Objectives Were Clear:

  • Raise funds for a digital hub space to train teenage mothers in essential digital skills.
  • Increase awareness of the realities of teenage pregnancy and the importance of reintegration.
  • Showcase community partnerships and amplify locally-driven solutions.

👣 Event Highlights:

  • 265+ participants turned up, joined by 40+ volunteers and program staff.
  • Media coverage secured by K24 TV and active promotion through Domas Radio, Nairobi Chapel Ongata Rongai, social media, church and door-to-door outreach.
  • Fun and fitness: from dance sessions to family-friendly spaces and warm community spirit.
  • Feedback praised the vibrant atmosphere and highlighted opportunities for improved food vending and signage.

💡 Impact and Outcomes:

  • Direct support for 30 teenage mothers who have already begun their mentorship and training journey.
  • Funds raised will support the setup of training spaces, procurement of materials, and facilitation of initial sessions.
  • New partnerships established with community-based organisations, churches, and businesses.
  • Increased awareness across Kajiado North Sub County on the importance of second chances for young mothers.

📈 What We Learned:

  • Pre-event communication and vendor coordination must be strengthened.
  • Early digital engagement can significantly boost participation.
  • Consistent partner engagement remains key for long-term collaboration and impact.

🛠️ What’s Next:

  • Launch and equip our Community Training Centre in Kiserian, where courses in sewing, catering, beauty, and ICT will take place.
  • Share this report widely with partners, participants, and sponsors.
  • Begin planning the 2026 Charity Run and our next community event — the Christmas Chapo Fest on 20th December 2025.
